Why this petition matters

Warning! Beware of Tardive Dyskenisia ( Article describing what it is and what the goal of this petition is. (Blog article with more information)

Tardive dyskinesia, an involuntary movement disorder, is life-altering and painful. It is a source of humiliation and embarrassment as well. It is usually irreversible.

It is caused by several medications used for  seizures, stomach issues including nausea, psychiatric illnesses, allergies, and more including decongestants.

More and more people are being diagnosed with it recently and even more suffer from it not knowing what it is. Many doctors don't even diagnose it.

Something needs to be done! It needs to be more than just listing it as a side effect on pill bottles and disclosing it in advertisements.

People need to know how awful it is, what the signs of it are, how important it is to consider getting off the causation medication, and what doctors to seek out.

The medical profession needs to be aware of it so they can see the early signs and know what to do. I have heard a lot of horror stories about doctors being unwilling to diagnose their patients because they could be blamed for prescribing the medication or are incompetent.

WE need to hold the pharmaceutical companies and medical professionals accountable for the horror, trauma, pain, and suffering they are inflicting on patients with tardive dyskenisia, dystonia, and akathasia.

We need to make it mandatory to have patients be told about the symptoms of TD when they are prescribed a medication that can cause it. I also think they should have to show videos like I have referenced in my article.

All medical professionals should be required to watch videos of people with tardive dyskenisia and listen to interviews of people with the condition. They need to know what to look for and how to treat it including the titration of the causation medication very slowly.

More research should be done on how to avoid it and treat it.

We all need to stick together to change the way Tardive Dyskenisia is dealt with and hopefully avoid people having a life-long condition when it could be avoided.

Thanks for signing this. Please share it with everyone you know.
