Airlines: Stop The Extreme Price Gouging for Carry-On Pets
Airlines: Stop The Extreme Price Gouging for Carry-On Pets
Why this petition matters
Today, flights are incredibly expensive. In general, traveling is costly. Airlines continue to take advantage of their position. They have raised their prices by including hidden fees and forcing people to purchase "extras" that should already be included.
One of the most egregious examples of airlines overcharging is the price they charge to carry on a pet.
The current price to bring an animal on board is $125. This is simply absurd.
This makes no sense as these animals are considered “carry-on” items. Pets are to remain in their carriers the entire flight and must be placed under the seat in front of you. They effectively take the spot of the usual item you are allowed to carry on and do so with a high fee. It is often the case that this fee is more than the cost of a normal ticket.
For many of us, our animals are our most trusted companions. We rely on them, and they, in turn, rely on us. They offer emotional support and affection. Airlines are simply trying to find another way to take your money.
The fee should be lowered. Yes, having a fee helps to limit liability and protect the airline. But it simply should not be this expensive.
