Don't let the School Of Arts Administration Change the Costuming and Fashion Major
Don't let the School Of Arts Administration Change the Costuming and Fashion Major
Why this petition matters
The Charleston County School of the Arts' Costume and Fashion Major has been teaching local high school students foundations and elements of fashion that make it possible for those students to make working in the fashion industry a achievable goal for several years. However, recently it came to our attention that the school administration are planning changes that they have not discussed with parents or students of the major, especially changing the Costume and Fashion Major to just a Design Major next year.
Some of those changes include:
-Replacing the costuming and fashion design major with simply a design major
-Removing auditions
-Changing curriculum (to possibly something for general/textbook driven?)
-Change the premier showcase of student progress and work, such as the Senior Thesis and annual Fashion Show
-Disrupt current fashion student's curriculum, college plans, and instructions, and many unknowns.
These changes will be extremely detrimental for both current and prospective fashion students, and hinder lots of students from their dreams.
Please sign so we can help convince the school administration to keep our major. School changes are likely to happen during the holidays, right before annual auditions for new students. Sign before then so we can get the administration to notice!
