Support the RESTORE Act 2023
Why this petition matters
The RESTORE ("Re-Entry Support Through Opportunities for Resources and Essentials") Act was introduced by Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ), Raphael Warnock (D-GA), and Steve Cohen (D-TN) to amend the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996. The RESTORE Act has the mission of providing food security to previously incarcerated drug offenders. These benefits would be provided by SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) through Social Security. With government assistance, previously incarcerated drug offenders will have proper access to food.
Food insecurity and poverty have been cited to increase the chances of relapse for previous drug users. The RESTORE Act aspires to change this narrative by providing food security to released drug offenders. Show your support for the RESTORE Act so that their reintegration into society is a new beginning and not the continuation of a cycle.
