Social Security Fairness Act for the 118th Congress and the campaign to repeal WEP and GPO is underway for 2023.

Windfall Elimination Provision was signed into law in 1983 and Government Pension Offset was signed into law in 1976, these two pieces of legislation reduces Social-Security benefits or some cases eliminates survivors benefits entirely. Should citizens that have a pension and paid into Social-Security have their benefits reduced if you were a police, fire, teacher or railroad worker along with other professions and some foreign citizens that did not pay into Social Security? While working or when retired, you then worked a job that paid into Social Security and if your earned 40 credits upon retiring, you would believe you would receive your total benefits as your Social Security earning has stated but when you apply for your benefits, then you learn your benefits will be reduced, unless you work 30 years paying into Social-Security.

Ask Congress to repeal Windfall Elimination Provision & Government Pension Offset that unfairly harm hardworking citizens.

Members of the House of Representatives serve two-year terms and are considered for re-election every even year. There is a Bill in the House to repeal WEP & GPO, titled H.R. 82, that have reached over 290 co-sponsors and is now headed to the House floor for a vote. It is imperative that you continue to ask for their support as the bill moves through the House and onto the Senate. The Senate has a companion for Social Security Fairness Act, S. 597 for the 118th Congress. Members elected to The United States Senate serves a six year term.

More than 2.5 million people dedicated to public service, including many educators, police, firefighters, nurses state and municipal workers, along with other workers have their Social Security benefits reduced—or lose them entirely—due to the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). The WEP reduces the Social Security benefits of people who work in jobs covered by Social Security and jobs NOT covered by Social Security over the course of their careers—for example, educators compelled to take part-time or summer jobs to make ends meet. The GPO reduces the Social Security spousal or survivor benefits of people who get a government pension (federal, state or local) but did not pay Social Security taxes themselves.

The Social Security Fairness Act H.R. 82 for 2023, in the 118th Congress has 194 cosponsors as of 3/9/23, this time last year in the 117th Congress H.R. 82 had 91 cosponsors. That is terrific, last year we obtained 305 cosponsors over the 290 cosponsors. H.R. 82 was assigned to the Consensus Calendar where it must maintain 290 cosponsors for 25 Legislative days but was moved off the Consensus Calendar after a markup hearing was held. H.R. 82 because of this action and the time restraints H.R. 82 legislation was not voted on in the 117th Congress.   With everyone contacting their U.S. House Representatives also Representatives in other States and ask them to cosponsor H.R. 82 who have not and thanking their Representatives that have cosponsors, we are on our way of reaching 290 cosponsors with enough time to move H.R. 82 through the Congress for a vote hopefully.   https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/82   https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/hr82   The companion bill to H.R. 82 in the Senate is S. 597 Social Security Fairness Act, it was sponsored in the Senate on 3/1/23 and has 31 cosponsors as of 3/9/23.   The related bill in 2022, The 117th Congress, S.1302 Social Security Fairness Act had 42 cosponsors for the whole year.  S.597 needs 60 cosponsors to force a vote on the Senate floor. We are halfway there please reach out to your Senators in your State and in other States and ask them to cosponsor S. 597 who have not and thank those Senators who have cosponsored.   https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/senate-bill/597   https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/118/s597   Below is a Blue View Podcast and on this episode of the Blue View Podcast, National FOP President Patrick Yoes sits down with Representative @RepSpanberger, who currently represents Virginia’s 7th Congressional district. A former law enforcement officer herself, Congresswoman Spanberger is the lead Democratic sponsor of the FOP's top legislative priority: the Social Security Fairness Act.   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iCrzelvFuJ8   Please follow National WEP and GPO Repeal Movement on Facebook also participate in their Call to Action campaign and contact especially those Senators and Representatives that have cosponsors The Social Security Fairness Act in 2022 but have not as of yet in 2023.   https://www.facebook.com/groups/1315898065249754/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT   My story, I am a retired law enforcement officer from Washington DC Police Department for over 25 years, 20 years of that was in k9 and during that time I didn't pay into Social Security The 218 Agreement and I also worked before and after my time with MPDC Police where obtained 40 credits working jobs that pays into Social Security.    https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:1bf06173-8c5c-3847-ab4f-5d334d3e7bf0   https://www.ssa.gov/slge/pol_fire.htm?tl=3,4   Because of Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset laws and being unable to draw my full Social Security benefits that I have rightfully earned, I have started this petition.   https://www.socialsecurityintelligence.com/the-windfall-elimination-provision/   Thank you, please sign my petition and share.
