Help us stop this horrible piece of legislation. This is not just about the fundamental right to self-defense, a liberty deeply woven into the fabric of our society, but about Minnesotans. Hundreds of small businesses will be destroyed overnight if Bill SF1596 is allowed to pass, hunters may lose the ability to put meat in the freezer, and last and most importantly you WILL lose the ability to protect yourself. SF1596 is designed to strip you of your right to self defense.  

As for myself, I’m a Minnesotan. I’m a younger guy, learning gunsmithing, CAD, and machining in order to get my federal firearms license to manufacture firearms and bring my designs into reality. If this bill goes through, my dream to do this in my home state dies. The entire MN firearms market, thousands of livelihoods, die with the stroke of a pen. 

Bill SF1596, masquerading as an "assault weapons ban," threatens to strip Minnesota citizens of their gun rights in an almost blanket manner. America’s most popular rifle, the AR-15, is the target. But even if you don’t own one, you are at risk. Handguns, routinely used for personal protection, will be banned. Even certain hunting guns, like shotguns and deer rifles, integral to feeding many rural communities and families, would also fall under this sweeping legislation. 

Legislation should serve to protect the rights of law-abiding citizens, not curtail them. Instead of promoting safety, this bill fundamentally challenges the rights of Minnesotans, destroys our communities, and undermines the core values embedded in our second amendment. It is essential that we rally together to oppose this legislation.

We implore concerned citizens, like-minded individuals, and responsible gun owners to voice dissent against this bill, and stand to protect the rights and aspirations of Minnesotans. Simply put, our liberties are under threat, only this time it has a name, Bill SF1596.
