Children Birth to 5 in Prince William County, Virginia need YOUR support!
Why this petition matters
COMMUNITY CONCERN: Greater Prince William (GPW) does NOT have a designated governing agency that can support, educate, and help families navigate issues that occur during the formative years of Birth to 5.
GPW is the only jurisdiction of its size in Virginia that has not yet established a department with a primary focus on early childhood care and education.
40,000 Children Birth-5 years do not have representation within our community...
All children have the right to access high-quality learning opportunities that enable them to achieve their full potential as engaged learners and valued members of society. School readiness elevates the trajectory of children's lives, producing economic and social benefits, including a competitive, productive workforce for Greater Prince William.
“Investing in early childhood education is a cost-effective strategy for promoting economic growth. Our economic future depends on providing the tools for upward mobility and building a highly educated, skilled workforce. Early childhood education is the most efficient way to accomplish these goals.” -Dr. James Heckman, Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago and Nobel Prize Winner
Children Birth to 5 today will be the Workforce of Prince William County Tomorrow!
Solution: Establish a fully funded Office for Early Childhood Birth-5 Greater Prince William.
*This office would accept responsibility to partner and collaborate with the GPW existing agencies and departments to specifically address early childhood needs and coordinate services for our youngest citizens and their families.
How you can help:
1. Sign this petition and speak for the 40K youngest children who don't have a voice!
2. Contact your local PWC Supervisor and advocate for them to establish an Office for Early Childhood in Greater Prince William.
