Stop Fly-Tipping / Public Toileting at Giesbach Rd — Demand Action from Islington Council

Stop Fly-Tipping / Public Toileting at Giesbach Rd — Demand Action from Islington Council
The Issue
We, the residents of Giesbach Road, are calling on Islington Council and Transport for London (TfL) to urgently take coordinated action to address worsening conditions at the green space at the dead end of Giesbach Road, N19 — adjacent to the public bus stop on Holloway Road (near Stop R, “Archway Station / Holloway Road”):
https://maps.app.goo.gl/benTFP7A99XVcVtV6
For months, this site has been used for:
- Regular fly-tipping
- Antisocial behaviour
- And even public toileting, creating serious health and safety risks
Despite multiple reports, residents have been stuck in a loop:
- Islington Council says it’s TfL’s responsibility
- TfL says it’s the Council’s or police’s problem
- The Housing Response team closes reports with no action
We are asking for immediate and realistic intervention, including:
- Confirmation of who is responsible for maintenance and enforcement
- Urgent clean-up and sanitisation of the site
- Signs and physical deterrents (fencing, lighting, cameras, etc.)
- Regular monitoring and police visibility
- Support for residents to report and participate in keeping the area clean
We believe this is a basic matter of public health, dignity, and safety. No community should be left with an unmanaged space used as a dump and toilet.
We urge our elected officials and local authorities to act — together — and stop the cycle of buck-passing.
