PR for Inland applicants stuck at CBSA for long time
PR for Inland applicants stuck at CBSA for long time
Why this petition matters
The current processing time for an inland PR application is 4 months. However, there are many applications stuck at the last step of "security check" at CBSA and CSIS for long periods of time. Some applicants have been waiting for a year to get an answer from IRCC on completion of this last step. This is causing depression and anxiety among well-deserving PR applicants.
It is worth noting that all these thousand of applicants have many prior approvals before coming to Canada like work permits, student visas, visitor visas and others, wherein their respective backgrounds were checked before allowing them to come to Canada.
We are also aware that inland background checks normally take less than a month, if not, a week to complete. However, if an application is stuck or ignored, there is no forum to get exact information as to what is causing the delay of said application.
Generally, IRCC's call centre won’t help when a third party is involved in completing an application.
We request that Honorable Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, Sean Fraser, look into this matter.
