For many years, the people of Williams Lake have been subjected to play on outdoor basketball courts that are in less than preferable conditions. The most popular court in Williams Lake is the court that bridges Nesika Elementary and Columneetza Middle School. That court has many problems, such as non-regulation court dimensions, shorter than regulation rims, bent rims and a hard playing surface that ruins shoes and attracts heat.

With basketball becoming an increasingly popular sport in Williams Lake, it would make a lot of sense for there to be a nice public court. Many players who are trying to improve their game only have the ability to in the summer time due to there not being an open indoor court year round.

This will involve the local community and the youth in the area participating in outdoor exercise and can host many competitions and sporting events.

 While there are some very important issues that need to be resolved at this time, I would like to mention how the Williams Lake basketball community dreamed of a decent outdoor basketball court for years.
