Since day one of this process the Long Lake firefighter's #1 priority is to keep this group of firefighters together, regardless of ownership. It is their opinion that disrupting or deconstructing the Long Lake Fire Department adds no benefit to the public.

To put it bluntly, if this group of firefighters is split up, the community will not receive the same excellent fire service that they have enjoyed for many many years.

One Monday, June 12, 2023 the Orono City Council will make a decision on about the future of fire service - based on the four options outlined in the Fire Needs Assessment outlined at the Monday, May 22, 2023 - many of which will make the Long Lake Firefighter's #1 priority impossible and does not include options for continued negotiations with the City of Long Lake.
