We are medical graduates without residencies. We spent thousands of hours in didactics as well as on clinical rotations to gain the necessary knowledge and skills and passed the two national USMLE Steps 1 and 2. The amount of training we received exceeded the ones from any mid-level training for nurse practitioners or physician assistants. 

However, every year the unmatched rate is about 4-8% because there aren't enough residency spots for medical graduates. The current laws don't allow medical graduates to practice medicine. On the other hand, specific AAMC projections by 2034 include shortages of between 17,800 and 48,000 primary care physicians and between 21,000 and 77,100 non-primary care physicians. 

We urge the states' medical boards and their legislature to grant unmatched medical graduates equal opportunities to serve as mid-level practitioners.
