Why this petition matters

Started by Warren Reed

Cole Harbour Parks and Trails Association, among the most visited and beloved natural destinations  in Nova Scotia has a campaign to inform our membership, trail users, the public in general and politicians at all levels of government of two possible threats to the environment of the Cole Harbour Salt Marsh Trail.

  • The Dartmouth Clay Target Association property near Rainbow Haven Beach, is up for sale and zoned as Commercial. It is CHPTA’s belief that this site needs to be zoned as park land.
  • The conservation areas of the salt marsh (2300 acres) are not on the list of Nova Scotia protected spaces.

Standing on the drumlin and looking eastward across the salt marsh, one appreciates the natural beauty of our province. The rhythms of the tides and seasons; the echoes of the lives of first peoples, fishermen and farmers; the smell of the balsam and the mud flats, the hovering Osprey – all this and more will be here for our children’s children.
