The Metro-Minerva Theatre in Kings Cross is a world significant example of an Art Deco live theatrical space and is under threat from a boutique hotel development that will change its architectural integrity and remove it from the possibility of ever being restored as a live venue.

Developers Central Element plans for a 63-room boutique hotel and a raft of booze venues will remove this gem’s magnificent features from their original context and make them mere adornments for the hotel.

Despite receiving a strong majority of objections, the developers are refusing to withdraw the original development application and have submitted amendments persevering with their hotel and night club scheme. 

Our goal is to preserve the Metro-Minerva Theatre as a theatre,  which is the original purpose for which it was built. The proposed development to turn it into a hotel is not acceptable to our cause.

To ensure the preservation of this invaluable historic theatre, please sign this new petition. Your signature is crucial in preventing this Art Deco gem from being turned into a hotel and nightclub.

All signatures on this petition will be passed onto the City of Sydney as objections to the development.
