To stop OCC failing children/young adults with SEN
To stop OCC failing children/young adults with SEN
Why this petition matters
My son has been systematically failed by OCC. From the age of 11 to 16 he had no education, as far to traumatised to attend school due to not having needs met, no other alternative was ever offered in that time. Now he is 19 and received no help from the preparing for adulthood sen officer, not replying to phone calls or emails when we needed advice as to where my sons next placement would be that offered the same package as his previous placement, we we're left in limbo and it was left to us to navigate ourselves.all of the uncertainty has impacted greatly on my son's mental health. We are not by any means the only family being let down by Oxfordshire county council all of the unlawful failings will undoubtedly put added strain on the already overstretched mental health teams, which in turn will only add to the long wait to be seen. We haven't had an annual EHCP review for 17months so no changes have been made to this legal document. Preparing for adulthood has been non-existent . OCC needs to stop failing families and they need to put be under scrutiny to see just how many sen are being failed.
