Why this petition matters

Started by Hannah Watts

As we are all aware there is a huge financial issue in the UK for many people in terms of the cost of living. It is resulting in regular members of the public having to cut back enormously, not just people who currently rely on Universal credit and other benefits but across the whole nation.

This petition is requesting a £25 per week uplift to help with the rise in the cost of living in the UK.

When you hear how people are having to choose between paying bills and buying food this genuinely is the reality of things right now. Food banks are being used by regular people both working and who are on benefits, how is this happening? It's a crisis at large and things in the UK need to change to support us.

Much of the country's money goes overseas and is spent on financing and supplying weapons for war.

Most people who claim benefits do so because they need to, why does the government not increase the Universal Credit income in accordance with the high cost of living we are all having to endure?

Each month payday becomes more painful, leaving less and less money left over to even buy food for our family and selves.

This has to change. Please take a moment to sign this petition so we can hope this is put into the minds of the Conservative government who make these decisions without taking into account real-life matters and financial impact.
