Paper Girls follows four young girls who, while out delivering papers during the dark morning hours after Halloween in 1988, become unwittingly caught in a conflict between warring factions of time-travelers, sending them on an adventure through time that will save the world.

It was wrongfully cancelled by Prime Video after not receiving proper marketing and funding. Therefore, by their standards resulting in “lack-luster support.” 

Based off the award winning graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughn, the show depicts positive female friendship, young queer love, and several issues that young girls face everyday among other topics.

It features a diverse and talented young cast who have changed the lives of audiences everywhere. It is a rare show that touches on just how awful the 80s were instead of glorifying them like many shows do today. 

It features a black lead, a Chinese lead, a jewish lead, and two lesbian leads. Representation like this should not go unnoticed. 

With an established fan base of comic fans and a new wave of fans thanks to the show adaptation, the first season was a critical success with a 90% on rotten tomatoes and an 88% audience score. It received similar praise from other critic sites.

Prime Video has shown time and time again that they don’t care about queer lead media, and are putting their primary focus on what they know will put cash in their pockets, countless spin offs and reboots.
