Parcel 36 is a 23,522-square-foot former railroad lot in the Mission District, connecting Treat Avenue and 22nd Street. This land has no owners according to city records. Nonetheless, it is fenced and locked by a small number of adjacent residents and businesses, for their exclusive use. As the Mission continues to grow, it is more vital than ever that the few remaining open spaces such as this be converted to uses that welcome the entire community and represent the culture and history of the past and present people here. 

We, the undersigned, support developing this vacant, historic railroad right-of-way land into a public, car-free pedestrian pathway surrounded by greenery such as trees, pollinator habitats and edible landscaping.

Parcela 36 es un antiguo terreno ferroviario de 23,522 pies cuadrados (2,185 metros cuadrados) en el Distrito de la Misión que conecta a la Calle 22 y la Avenida Treat. La parcela no tiene propietario oficial según documentos catastrales del municipio, pero aun así un pequeño grupo de vecinos la cercó con candado para uso propio como estacionamiento. Según va aumentando la población del barrio, es más importante que nunca que los pocos terrenos baldíos que quedan pasen a ser espacios libres y abiertos para toda la comunidad y, además, que representen la cultura e historia de la gente que vive y ha vivido aquí.

Por lo tanto, agregamos nuestra firma a esta petición para apoyar la transformación de este antiguo e histórico derecho de vía ferroviario en una senda peatonal, sin coches, rodeada de verdor tal como árboles, hábitats polinizadores y plantas comestibles.
