Our beloved Beaumaris Children's Playhouse has been serving the Bayside community for over 40 years. Acting as a safe space for parents to take their pre-school aged children, it has been a sanctuary for parents, offering unparalleled opportunity for connection during the often tumultuous early years of parenthood. It's a sanctuary for parents' mental health and well-being.

Bayside City Council wants to take our facility away, with plans to combine the site with Jack & Jill next door and turn it into a kindergarten. We understand the importance of the Early Years Infrastructure Plan and understand that the Victorian State Government’s Best Start, Best Life kindergarten reform sees the need to develop more infrastructure in almost all municipalities. However this decision is on the brink of tearing away an irreplaceable piece of our community's heart that has served us faithfully for 40 years. Places like the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse are disappearing in Australia, and there are only two left in Victoria. Losing this gem would be a gut-wrenching loss for the existing families who rely on it, and the future generation of families that will not only use it but rely on it also.

We will show Bayside City Council that the community wants and needs the Beaumaris Children’s Playhouse to stay as it is unchanged at its current address as a stand alone venue. 

Families want the playhouse to stay as it is, and where it is - the beautiful and humble facility that has been built up by the community over the last 40 years, so that it can remain as the beating heart of support for young families for generations to come.

But we need your help to get this message across. If we can’t, we will lose it forever. The clock is ticking. Bayside Council intends to take the facility back for development by the end of 2024. So to preserve this vital part of our community and safeguard the mental health and well-being of young families, we need to unite, raise our voices, and stand as one to save the Beaumaris Children's Playhouse right now.
