Why this petition matters

Started by Miguel Davilla

For many of us growing up with the Yankees over the last 30 years, John Sterling was more than just an announcer; he was the voice that brought our favorite team to life. His passionate and unique commentary has been an integral part of our experience as fans, making every game feel like a special event.

John Sterling's career with the Yankees spans three decades, during which time he has become synonymous with some of baseball's most memorable moments. His catchphrases have entered into Yankee lore, and his dedication to his craft is unparalleled - he didn't miss a single game for nearly 30 years until July 2019 (source: New York Times).

Yet despite his significant contributions to Yankee history and culture, there is no recognition for him in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium. This is not only an oversight but also a disservice to one of the most iconic voices in sports broadcasting.

We believe it's high time that changed. We are calling on the management of Yankee Stadium to honor John Sterling by including him in Monument Park. This would be a fitting tribute to a man who has given so much to our beloved team and its fans.

Let's ensure that future generations of Yankees fans can appreciate John Sterling's legacy as we do now. Please sign this petition if you agree that it’s time for John Sterling’s name and voice to be permanently etched into Yankees' history at Monument Park.
