The TikTok account: @voiceofplagues

On November 1st at 00:11am GMT, the frontman and leader of the band, “Plagues” had his TikTok account, of which at the time had in excess of 530,000 followers, permanently banned from TikTok LIVE access. 

The reason given by the platform was due to “Hateful Behaviour”, however, anyone who has participated in the live streams will know that there is only ever a positive message of unity.

The ban is a result of malicious individuals falsely reporting the stream with the intention of getting the account banned. There are a number of accounts that have been made to impersonate the @voiceofplagues account that attempt to scam people out of money; evidence of this can be found in the link at the top, the account shown is impersonating @voiceofplagues. Due to the nature of TikTok’s content moderation depending on AI, and what appears to be banning based on volume of reports rather than legitimacy of reports, it is has resulted in the account being banned indefinitely. Despite the attempts to appeal the ban using the applications built in processes, the review period for the appeal has elapsed and there has not been a conclusion provided, it lays in a dormant state of “in review”, despite being told it takes up to 48 hours for the review process to complete. The purpose of the live streams are to reach new fans of the band, as well stream music of the band, and also expand on the lore that support the Plagues immersive experience. The account would reach upwards of 1 million views a week on the live stream, and around 30 million views a month from posts. Since the account has been banned, it has had less than 50,000 views from posts and isn’t reaching new fans.

The objective of this petition is to to get the social media platform, TikTok, to review the supposed violations the account made by viewing the “replays” of the streams reported, and then reinstating the LIVE stream access to the account. 

If this petition is successful then the account will be functional once again and able to provide entertainment and immersion to its fans, new and old.

If this petition fails, the account will remain without access to TikTok’s LIVE stream feature.
