Black Femicide is a Hate Crime. We have documented and tracked the deaths of Black women and girls in the United States for the past five years, and the numbers are atrocious and alarming. As of today 10.10.21, 1110 Black women and girls have been slaughtered in the US. That means, every 6 hours, a Black woman or girl is killed in her community in the US today.

What is the definition of a hate crime: The US Department of Justice defines a hate crime as follows: At the federal level, hate crime laws include crimes committed based on the victim's perceived or actual race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. Most state hate crime laws include crimes committed based on race, color, and religion; many also include crimes committed based on sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, and disability. 

What is a crime? The US Department of Justice defines crime as a violent crime, such as assault, murder, arson, vandalism, or threats to commit such crimes. 

Because Black women and girls are disproportionality murdered than other demographics of women, we have to reason that that is not just due to their gender, but also their race.
