Why this petition matters

Started by Melanie Mitchell

This petition is for hosts, neighbours, small business owners supported by Short-Term Rentals and guests to express their concern for over-reaching and unreasonable regulations being considered by Winnipeg City Council.

This petition will help save over 2000 local people from losing supplemental income in the face of a coming recession and provide housing flexibility to refugees, new comers,  vacationers, business travelers, new industry professionals and medical stays. Closing these spaces will result in direct losses to the Winnipeg small business tourism sector to the tune of tens of thousands per day and direct small business spending by the Short Term Rental owners to other small businesses of thousands per day.

Help Winnipeg hosts and the small businesses they support by signing your name and sharing with friends, family and your other small businesses to help keep this valuable and important part of Winnipeg’s housing stock!

This petition specifically rejects the discriminatory portion of the regulations.

We are not however suggesting or rejecting that housing of all types should not be inspected, safe and be subject to fair and legal  regulation.

Be sure to check out our updates for related content that supports our petition and our commitment as landlords to work to make solutions and strive for mutually beneficial agreements with city hall.
