Why this petition matters

Started by Zoe Watson

As from 1st November 2021 Lincolnshire County Council are prohibiting any vehicle over 6m in length from parking at Huttoft Parking Terrace. This area has been a popular daytime parking spot for motorhomes for years and is the only parking area within the Lincolnshire Coastal Country Park that is currently accessible for larger vehicles.
The banning of motorhomes and other large vehicles will have a detrimental impact on the local economy. Motorhome tourists will no longer visit the area as they will have no where to park close to the beach, apart from very limited parking spaces in the towns of Mablethorpe and Skegness.
The responsible majority of motorhome tourists will stay overnight at a local campsite and then park up at the beach during the day. There are very few campsites within safe walking distance of the beach, and if tourists are travelling in a motorhome it is their only means of transport to explore the area. The availability of parking at Huttoft beach terrace is one of the main attractions for motorhome tourists staying at campsites in this area.
This ban is a discriminatory decision. Visitors whose only means of transport is a vehicle over 6m long will now be denied access to the Coastal Country Park. This will also have a detrimental effect on people with health problems and mobility issues that holiday in motorhomes so they have toilet and other facilities close by but want to enjoy time at a beach. Motorhome parking in Skegness and Mablethorpe is very limited and quite a walk away from the beach. There is no other parking within the area of the Coastal Park, therefore anyone using a larger vehicle can no longer visit the area.
