Ask to the Swindon Borough Council: Provide permanent, suitable secure and safe place of worship (Temple) to Hindu community of Swindon. And until the time permanent place of worship is given to the Hindu community, please provide the security and electricity to existing Swindon Hindu Temple at 103 Darby Close Cheney Manor.

More Details to the petition: The Swindon Hindu Temple had major break-in between 02/09 -03/09'2021 which was identified on Saturday 04th September at 10.30am. This was the 5th break in incident at Swindon Hindu Temple premises at 103 Darby close Cheney Manor.

The temple is the only place of worship for more than 20000 people from Hindu community across the region. The Swindon Hindu Temple is more than just a temple; it serves the entire community of the Swindon Town as community centre, Cultural Centre, Library, Elderly Club, Youth Club, Chess Club, Arts, Music, School Visits, Language Classes, Yoga and Meditation, Free Meals for Vulnerable and people in need, Blood Donation, Health Camps, Covid Vaccination Centre, Interfaith Centre, and supporting various Charities across the southwest region.

The criminals had not only stolen the cash and valuable artefacts but also vandalised very auspicious altar of the temple where all the deities are placed which is the area where only priests entries are allowed. The robbers had disrespected our lord Ganesha by throwing his picture on the floor and stamping over it. The entire Hindu Community of the region and across the globe are deeply hurt and in utter shock. The entire Hindu Community and especially our elderly & children are very scared by looking at this atrocity and despicable crime to a peace loving and kind community. 

We have two demands,

1. Please provide a Permanent, Suitable, Secure and Safe place of worship to Hindu Community of Swindon

2. And while we wait for the allocation of a Permanent place of Worship please provide the Security and Electricity to Swindon Hindu Temple at Darby close, Cheney Manor.
