We call upon the Lord Provost, the Council Leader and the Deputy Leader of Edinburgh Council to help us in our time of need. Please support the twinning of Gaza with Edinburgh that over three hundred of your citizens call for.

It will be beneficial for both our cities. We have so much culture and history – we are not just a city of death and bombs – we have schools, we have sport, we have libraries, we have similar civic institutions to you. You have clean water and sewage treatment and we do not, you can help us with your knowledge and ideas. And we can help you understand that Arabs have culture and traditions that are different but special, especially for our extended family systems, which we treasure. Twinning will enrich both our citizens lives.

We see that some of you want to twin Edinburgh with Gaza also, from the petition on your website which has 350 signatures and we hope that your citizens will sign it to help you see how much we can do together.

In the spirit of international co-operation and understanding, please twin our two cities.
