Cave Run Lake, ‘the Muskie Capital of the South’ is facing unprecedented fishing pressure. Long known for trophy Muskellunge (aka musky/muskie), action is now needed for Cave Run Lake to maintain it’s status as one of the premiere trophy muskie destinations in North America. Like many trophy waters facing increased pressure, better tactics by anglers, better electronics, and better gear, we are petitioning a 45” minimum size limit for all Muskellunge and derivatives on Cave Run Lake and it’s inflowing tributaries. All fish below 45” would be catch and release only. This will help ensure that Cave Run Lake will continue to be a trophy muskie destination, and align it with other trophy waters across North America that have also increased their limits.
