Why this petition matters

Description:

We unite to demand justice for Rashad Jamal, a Black Activist wrongfully convicted without any physical evidence. Rashad's case highlights the flaws in our justice system that disproportionately affect marginalized communities.

Why Sign?

Rashad Jamal, a devoted father and husband, has tirelessly advocated for peace, divine love, and social justice. His wrongful imprisonment is an egregious injustice that demands our attention. The lack of evidence and delayed jury deliberation raise serious questions about the fairness of his trial.

A Trial Shifted Towards Activism:

Instead of a meticulous examination of the alleged crime, the trial disproportionately emphasized Rashad's role as an activist and the content of his conscious lectures. This diversion allowed the prosecution to sidestep the crucial issue at hand—the absence of tangible proof connecting Rashad to the charges.

Repeating Patterns of the Accuser:

Adding to the injustice, it has come to light that the woman (Rashad’s ex girlfriend) pressing charges against Rashad has a history of making similar accusations after past relationships. This pattern raises concerns about the credibility of the allegations, suggesting a potential misuse of the legal system to settle personal disputes.

Historically Racist County:

Rashad Jamal faced trial in a county with a history of racial bias, creating an environment where a fair judgment was nearly impossible. The systemic racism ingrained in the justice system of this county casts a shadow over the legitimacy of Rashad's conviction.

Media Misinformation: Lies, Slander, and Character Assassination:

The media played a damaging role in perpetuating lies and spreading slander against Rashad Jamal. Instead of presenting the facts, they chose to focus on sensationalized narratives that distorted his character. This deliberate misinformation tainted public perception and likely influenced the outcome of the trial.

Unjust Over-Sentencing:

Rashad Jamal was handed a disproportionately severe sentence, 16 years in prison and 20 years of probation, for a crime where no credible evidence was presented. This excessive punishment not only adds insult to injury but highlights the systemic issues within the justice system that perpetuate unfair sentencing practices.

Systemic Issues Amplified:

The over-sentencing of Rashad amplifies the existing problems of racial bias, media misinformation, and an overall lack of fairness in the legal process. This severe sentence reflects a disregard for the principles of proportionality and fairness that should guide any just legal system.

Inhumane Conditions: A Cry for Help

Rashad is currently held in solitary confinement, facing constitutional violations that shock the conscience. Limited access to fresh air, extreme temperature conditions, restricted communication, and 24-hour isolation are not only violations of basic human rights but also go against the principles of a just society.

About Rashad Jamal: A Voice for Change

Rashad, a devoted father and husband, emerged from the mean streets of Chicago with a determination to break the cycle of violence and oppression. In 2017, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, seeking a better life for his family and children, refusing to let them endure the hardships he faced in his youth.

Inspired by the history of African Americans and the struggles they endured, Rashad became a world-renowned Activist. His teachings spanned various subjects, from oppression, metaphysics, and quantum physics to crystal healing, yoga meditation, and more. Rashad's inclusive message against all forms of oppression garnered a diverse following worldwide, transcending age, race, and background.

On May 25, 2020, following the murder of George Floyd, Rashad amplified his voice against white supremacy, police brutality, and racism in America. His message resonated, amassing over 200k subscribers on YouTube, 100k followers on Instagram, 10k followers on X , and over 1 billion views on TikTok.

Rashad's commitment to his community extended beyond activism, as he was known to pass out food and money to the homeless in Atlanta. Unfortunately, his outspoken stance against oppression led to death threats, culminating in his false detention on May 3rd, 2022.
