Why this petition matters

SAY HIS NAME! Jaheim Mcmillan was a FIFTEEN-year-old black boy who was shot and killed by police in Gulfport, Mississippi. I will be telling two stories, the police version and the version from the streets. The eyewitnesses (including the store owner of the dollar store they were at) said that the boys were already at the dollar store when the officers were swerving and riding behind them. The police had their guns out. One of the boys ran and the rest put their hands up. The officers shot 8 times and ended up hitting only Jaheim. They shot right by a propel tank, which could have resulted in more fatalities and more damages. The POLICE NARRATIVE says that it was a road rage incident. Five boys (meant to be Jaheim and his friends) had been following cars with guns. The officer said that Jaheim had a gun and turned it towards him and started shooting, so he shot back. The officer said that his body-cam footage wasn't working and that the dash-cam was off because it was not his car. Statements have been released by the PD with no video evidence and the MIB is investigating. The family still hasn't received an apology. The Gulfport MS PD number is (228) 868-5900. Please call and let them know we need justice for Jaheim now.

UPDATE: The mother of Jaheim has seen the body cam footage (that they said they didn't. have) as of December 22nd, 2022. As time passes, new information will be released and will help with this side of justice. Please follow the respective organizations, Next Gen Come Up (@thenextgencu) and Tha Hood Healers (@thahoodhealers) for updates.

UPDATE: The bodycam footage shows that Jaheim may have been armed, yet he STILL did not turn toward the officer. At the end of the day, his life was taken at 15 years old. More updates will follow.
