April 18, 2023 UPDATE: At 10 AM this morning, we met with gov't officials. They have a small temporary space for us that we will visit tomorrow morning. We don't know for how long we will be allowed to stay in this temp location. One thing is certain: we must move out of the Mundaca Palapa shelter by the first week of May. We were offered a 'future collaboration' with them. We do not have details on this yet. Regardless of what happens, this process represents a huge amount of unexpected expenses that we cannot afford. PLEASE HELP US!!! The Gov’t of Isla Mujeres, Mexico is forcing Isla Animals Rescue out of our shelter in less than 4 weeks! We have no where to put our dogs. ISLA ANIMALS AND OUR DOGS NEED YOUR HELP! It is wrong to abandon us after we have helped the animals of the island for over 21 years. We need a shelter space on the island ASAP!

Since 2001 Isla Animals Rescue has been fighting to rescue and sterilize the street dogs of the island. We’ve worked tirelessly for decades to offer free services to the community and to offer government-like services (there are no government programs or humane society here). We operate solely on donations. By forcing us out of our location they’re stopping us from the work that we do for free. We cannot afford a new location, not to mention there are no animal shelter-like locations on the island even available! By taking away our shelter space, the 100 dogs we’ve sent out in the last 100 days would never have been possible! We are in a CRISIS.
