Put food and single Hygiene items in Marcus catalog
Put food and single Hygiene items in Marcus catalog
Why this petition matters
We the undersigned, request that The WI DOC allow JL Marcus to sell food
and single hygiene items in their catalog . Marcus sells these items in the other states they deal with and the full catalog, with these items is available to view for anyone with the internet.
The present policy of relying on Union Supply for both hygiene and food
supplements is woefully inadequate. First ,it is a monopoly for both hygiene and supplemental food and seems to have no motivation to provide good products or service. Customer service is unresponsive and delivery of orders for canteen is completely unreliable. The 20 dollar minimum for hygiene is undo-able for many prisoners and their families. It is a very cynical response to a real need.
For prisoners really care about their cleanliness and simple daily hygiene is a essential for most people for good health and positive self identity. Single bars of soap and deodorant available cheaply and singly is what is needed. And it needs to be Marcus both because it breaks the monopoly and give incentive for both vendors to do their best and it needs to be Marcus because they are not overwhelmed and are able to deliver good quality products on time and in quantities ordered most of the time.
The food is another issue because many prisoners are always hungry because there is simply not enough food on their trays. For the indigent and those with big debt, those in segregation, there is no remedy. We ask that food be put in the catalog so family and friends can help prisoners cope.
