Samoans For Ceasefire calls for the Government of Samoa to publicly call for a total Ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank.

We are deeply affected by the ongoing crisis in Palestine, where the bombing of Gaza by Israel has led to the loss of thousands of innocent lives. This issue has become personal for many of us who have followed the updates from Gaza and the West Bank with great sadness, and we believe that it is time for us all to take a stand against these atrocities.

As of 10 November 2023, the UN reports that over 11,078 Palestinians have been killed since the escalation of violence on 7 October 2023 and that two thirds of them (6,600) are reportedly children and women. According to the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 1.5 million Gazans have been internally displaced in what has been called the “largest displacement of Palestinians since 1948.” In addition to this, the UN has reported that Gaza is running out of water, food, medical supplies, and that the spread of disease has made the situation more desperate.

We call upon the Government of Samoa, as a respected member of the Pacific region, to use its influence and advocate for an immediate ceasefire in Palestine. It's crucial that we raise our voices against this humanitarian crisis and push for peace.
