Women deserve to main event Grand Slams
Women deserve to main event Grand Slams
Why this petition matters
In 1968, the Open Era of professional tennis began.
The highest level of professional tennis are the 4 Grand Slam tournaments.
The Grand Slams last two weeks, and all things being equal, end on a Sunday. They are the pinnacle of the sport:
- Australian Open
- French Open
- Wimbledon
- US Open
Ever since the Open Era began, men's players have had the final match on the final day of play to conclude the tournament, it's never been a women's match. That's 50+ years of men's players being favored over women players and it needs to end now!
We all know in sport that the main event goes on last, it is the event that everybody came to see and the crown jewel of an event.
Women's tennis deserves the spotlight, the privilege, the honor that is being the main event of Grand Slam tournaments, by playing on the final Sunday. Women have more than earned the right to be the headline act and to play tennis on the biggest and best stages in the world.
If you believe this is a worthwhile cause and want women's tennis to be played last at the Grand Slams then sign this petition and let's make this change happen, it is long overdue.
Women deserve it!
