This is a petition to Congress, the State and Local officials to explain why they built homes, schools, playgrounds, hospitals, colleges, civic sites including sports stadiums on the contaminated ground and to ask the press to investigate why these same elected officials took donations from real estate developers who built on these sites!

Specifically to reinstate the RECA Radiation Exposure Compensation Act which compensated nuclear workers and people exposed to atomic bomb explosions, and extend it to all citizens exposed to atomic energy up to January 31, 1961 when new safety standards for civilian exposure of 500 mrems of radiation per year went into effect. Today the safety level is 100 mrems per year.

Previously, the amount was 300 mrems per week if you were under the age of 45 and 600 mrems per week for those older than 45. Before 1948, the levels were twice that amount. The nuclear industry at its height had 60,000 licenses nationwide and polluted their communities at these levels that are considered nuclear accidents today.

For instance why did the city of Los Angeles build Augusta Hawkins High School in South Central LA on a nuclear waste site?  Why did MIT build its Tang Center on a uranium processing plant?  Why did the city of Bloomfield NJ build housing on the Westinghouse Uranium Processing Plant last year? Why did the Army and the Navy purposely infect 245 cities including NYC, San Francisco and Washington DC with biological diseases during the Cold War which today cause secondary infections in all of our hospitals today?

The law was removed from the Defense bill which regularly extends the coverage each year. Unfortunately Senators and Members of the House have a conflict of interest whereby when they closed contaminated military bases, they allowed these sites to be built upon for real estate development, which has led to the poisoning of the American People and if the people find out what they did they might face repercussions.

The Maps are located at this page https://treasureislandcalifornia.wordpress.com/ where the city of San Francisco placed low income housing on the Navy's Chemical, Biological and Radiological training base Treasure Island Navy Base and people have died including children.  The city of San Francisco made a deal with the Navy where they keep the housing at its maximum numbers so the rents go to the cleanup.  The Navy found 1280 radiological objects under the housing and failed to evacuate anyone. You see the site is being developed by friends and relatives of the city, state and federal politicians under exclusive contracts so the poor are sacrificed in the name of real estate development.
