ALL NORTHERN VIRGINIA RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO SIGN

We, the concerned residents of Northern Virginia strongly oppose any efforts to bring a casino to our beloved community-- whether that's Reston or Tysons. We believe that introducing a casino would have detrimental effects on our area community's social fabric, safety, economic stability, and overall quality of life.

1. Social Impact:
A casino can lead to an increase in crime rates such as thefts, frauds, and even violent crimes. According to numerous studies conducted in various cities across the United States where casinos were introduced, crime rates have shown a significant rise within close proximity of these establishments.

2. Economic Stability:
Contrary to popular belief, casinos do not guarantee long-term economic growth or prosperity for local communities. Research has consistently shown that the introduction of casinos often leads to increased bankruptcy rates among local residents and small businesses due to gambling addiction and financial strain.

3. Traffic Congestion:
Reston snd Tysons are already facing traffic congestion issues during peak hours. The addition of a casino would only exacerbate this problem by attracting thousands of visitors daily who will contribute further strain on our roads and infrastructure.

4. Negative Social Impacts on Vulnerable Communities:
Casinos tend to disproportionately affect low-income individuals who are more susceptible to gambling addiction and its associated consequences such as financial ruin and family breakdowns.

5. Distorted Local Economy:
While proponents argue that casinos create jobs for local residents, these jobs are often low-paying with limited opportunities for advancement compared to other industries like technology or healthcare which could be better suited for Northen Virginia's workforce.

6. Preservation of Community Values:
Northern Virginia prides itself on being a family-friendly community with strong values rooted in education and cultural diversity rather than gambling and chance. A casino would undermine the very essence of our region's identity.

We urge local authorities, including the Community Association Groups, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, and other relevant decision-makers, to listen to the concerns of Northern Virginia residents and reject any proposals for a casino in our community. Let us preserve the unique character and well-being of Fairfax County for future generations.

Together, let's protect Tysons and Reston from the negative impacts associated with casinos!
