Many American workers use retirement accounts to plan for their futures, often with the intention that these savings and their earnings may be the primary or sole source of financial independence during retirement. The lack of an option to invest in the new and burgeoning market of cryptocurrencies is a detriment to workers and investors everywhere who would appreciate and benefit from opportunities to invest their hard-earned retirement savings in a semi-decentralized sector.

Fidelity has initiated the process to offer a Bitcoin based ETF with their proposal of the Wise Origin Bitcoin Trust, but this is currently in the bureaucracy of being approved for public use. Even after being granted SEC approval, there is no telling how long it will take to come on to the market publicly, and again no guarantee that all investors will be given the opportunity to invest their savings into this ETF or a similar mutual fund.

Every day that passes is growth that will forever be lost to the individuals who desire to secure position for their retirement plans within the relative security, immutable autonomy, and expected growth of cryptocurrency in general, and bitcoin in particular. The Securities and Exchange Commission, Fidelity, and General Motors need to quickly bring this investment opportunity to market and allow it into the approved options for portfolios for the benefit of Fidelity customers and GM employees, and all other employees who use an employer sponsored and regulated retirement accounts.

Decentralized cryptocurrency ETF and mutual funds must be made available now, not after the next crash, and not after the deep pockets of large market investors have finished settling their positions.
