As a woman born with cerebral palsy, I am up against restrictions all the time, whether it’s access to buildings, a right to education regardless of the type of disability, I think it’s paramount that children have equal choices and take charge of their own destiny, without hurdles being put in their way. Every child that’s born in this country, regardless of ability should be nurtured, equally and encouraged, and supported to be the best they can be and not be left out of opportunities because they happen to be different. This is 2021, this has been one of the worst pandemics of the 21st century, where EVERYONE has felt restricted and frustrated and have that feeling of wanting to do more, but can’t. This is how people with additional needs feel ALL the time, example. We can’t go to certain places, not because of COVID-19, but because of the lack of Willingness to INCLUDE EVERYBODY in our country. It’s about time, we stop leaving people behind they have the right to live life to the full and it’s ABOUT Time that people with Additional Needs Are Not left at the bottom of the pile of our society. Example, a school trip is organised for a classroom to go, 31 people in the classroom, but ONLY 30 can go on the school trip because their is no access for that child. That child has been restricted from the MINUTE they are born. And people have been struggling to cope with mental health for 14 months, due to COVID-19. That child will be restricted their whole life. It’s TIME to STOP this ISOLATION for All Children With Additional Needs. And let them Start on Equal playing field as their PEARS. Here is a fact: A lot of kids that are born with additional needs will grow up and develop severe mental health problems, imagine if this was your child.
