Why this petition matters

Started by Ryan Skinner

Cody Harrison, who murdered Officer Madrid-Evans yesterday was a convicted felon on probation for shooting from a moving vehicle in 2011. Harrison should have been in prison today as he was sentenced for 15 years. However, like most violent criminals in Missouri, he was paroled early and was a free man.

Just 8 days ago, Harrison was released from jail for a burglary that occurred in Grain Valley. Not only this, KCPD arrested Harrison on 9/8 for felon in possession of a gun.  Instead of sending Harrison back to prison and holding onto the dangerous felon until he could be fully prosecuted, Jean Peters Baker allowed for him to be released on ROR bond. This essentially means you sign a document promising you will appear in court and stay out of trouble. Baker's office did not even contest this when Judge Rigby made this erroneous decision. The result of this decision was the murder of Independence Officer Madrid-Evans. Jean Peters Baker allowed this to happen and blood is on her hands. Peters Baker is implicit in the murder of this hero and should immediately RESIGN!!

Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans signed up to be an officer after the 2020 protests when so many Officers were walking away from the job. This speaks to his character and his belief in the job he was doing. Stop putting the welfare of violent criminals before the welfare of the general public. So many tragedies could be prevented. Please sign the petition and make it clear to Jean Peters Baker we are over the politics and dangerous criminals walking the streets!
