Why this petition matters

Started by Brandon Siddall

I think that the majority of us can agree that the USPS is an essential business. It's an entity that serves to help Americans ship parcels, letters, etc. 365 days a year through rain, sleet, snow, etc. These hard working individuals are the cornerstone of our commerce. However, some of the decisions made by USPS are illogical and outdated. Case in point is the USPS Media Mail qualifications.

While it is quite alright to ship books and CD's through media mail. You are unable to ship magazines or comic books. Strange since Graphic Novels are also protected. The reason they do not ship comic books is, according to them, due to the ads inside of the comic itself. However, for collectors this poses an issue and a purely bureaucratic issue at that. What is the reason you couldn't ship a vintage comic book or magazine? The ads are irrelevant and useless. Most don't even work any longer.

This petition is made to get the attention of the USPS Postmaster General. This illogical oversight hurts small business' and doesn't allow for a fair market. During this time when everyone needs to stay home. We don't need USPS adding more stress. Let's add vintage comic books/magazines printed prior to the year 2000 to the ACCEPTED items for media mail. It just makes sense and it will help small businesses.
