In late 2023, ACT Policing had a breakthrough in the case of the unsolved murder of Irma Palasics in 1999. The first of the alleged offenders in Irma's murder was arrested in September 2023 and a second man was arrested in December 2023.

I'm John Mikita, Irma's grandson. I've been working hard for many years since her death to ensure that she is not forgotten and her killers are brought to justice. After many years of persistence and never giving up hope, closure may be just around the corner for our family.

ACT Policing are vastly under resourced and there is concern other families unsolved murders are not receiving the attention they deserve.

We call on the ACT Government to provide more funding to ACT Policing so they can further investigate the remaining unsolved murders in the ACT.

As of March 2024, there are several unsolved murders in the ACT.
