We demand immediate reinstatement of 3 suspended students of FGCL Ijanikin
Why this petition matters
Three children were unjustly suspended from FGC Ijanikin after their parents petitioned EFCC over alleged mismanagement of funds. These students experience is a clear example of how the current educational laws in Nigeria are not student-friendly and can be manipulated to serve interests other than those of our children. It's time for a change.
Nigeria, with its population of over 200 million people, has one of the largest education systems in Africa. Yet, many policies do not prioritize students' rights or welfare. The Nigerian Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) reported that only 57% of Nigerian children complete primary education, and just 49% transition to secondary school.
We need laws that protect students from unfair suspensions and expulsions, ensure access to quality education for all regardless of socio-economic background or geographical location, and promote safe learning environments free from bullying or harassment.
Let's make sure our educational laws set by Federal Ministry Of Education, Nigeria (FMoE) reflect the needs and rights of every Nigerian student. Sign this petition today to demand the following:
- Get the suspended students back to school immediately
- Revoke the harsh policy set by FMoE that states any parent who goes to court over any issue relating to their children’s schools would have their children suspended until the matter is withdrawn or settled in the court.
- Revise and ensure all educational laws in Nigeria become student-friendly.
