For nearly 20 years, fans of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings adaptations have known of the existence of scenes that were shot and never used, alternate storylines, and troves of behind-the-scenes content - but it has never seen the light of day.  Peter Jackson has even hinted that some of these scenes could be added back into the films for a longer Extended Edition than fans have ever seen - should the fans desire it.

We desire it as Gollum desires the One Ring. We desire what we call the MITHRIL EDITION, consisting of:

THE MITHRIL CUT: Further Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings films, created by Sir Peter Jackson himself.

DELETED SCENES: Scenes that Peter Jackson deems not worthy or unable to fit within the Mithril Cut should be included in this release, preferably with post-production completed.

NEW BEHIND-THE-SCENES FEATURES

THE APPENDICES: The legendary behind-the-scenes features that had never before (or since) been topped.  They should be re-released (in HD if possible) for a new generation to experience.

COSTA BOTES DOCUMENTARIES: First released with the Limited Edition DVDs, these documentaries should be included to make this a true ULTIMATE EDITION.

3D HFR VERSIONS OF THE HOBBIT TRILOGY

PACKAGING: A great addition to this set would be if it were housed in packaging that calls back to the original Extended Editions - the very editions which the MITHRIL EDITION could unseat at the greatest release of all time.

Fans of Tolkien's Middle-earth are some of the most passionate and loyal of any fandom in the world. They deserve to have that loyalty rewarded with one home media release to rule them all!
