Neighbors Opposing Noise (www.nonoisenow.org)

At times, this intolerable noise persists all day, sometimes every day of the week. We have tried again and again to find out what is causing the alarming noise levels from the MTA.  Initially,  we were told that the noise was due to household air conditioning units.  We don't think the MTA is being truthful with us. 

Twenty years ago, the MTA worked with local citizens to address the noise that could be heard from the Rail Yards. And it was quiet once again.  But for reasons the MTA will not disclose, they have disregarded the agreement, and the noise has now returned with a vengeance to unprecedented levels. 

The Metro North Railroad is in part 5 of a multi billion dollar improvement plan funded by OUR hard-earned tax dollars. There is nothing in the plan that addresses the toxic noise OR the toxic particulate pollution we have to endure every day.  This is unacceptable. 

We, the undersigned, from the Town of Ossining, Village of Croton-on-Hudson, and other local municipalities, believe we have a right to the quiet, peaceful enjoyment of our homes. We demand  our Town Supervisors, Board Members, and Legal Counsel work on our behalf to get the noises generated at the Harmon Rail Yard stopped immediately, and permanently.
