FEB 2021 UPDATE:

FIVE DAYS TO GO BEFORE B&NES COUNCIL DECIDE ON THE FUTURE OF BATH APPROACH GOLF COURSE. PLEASE SHARE AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE BEFORE 11TH FEBRUARY.

Bath and North East Somerset Council seems to be on the verge of permanently closing Bath Approach Golf Course, ending decades of fun and affordable golf for locals and visitors, not to mention potentially changing the look and atmosphere of a beautiful and sensitive space used by many others for a range of exercise and recreational activities. There is no desire for a change of use amongst residents. Please sign the petition to indicate your support, and to ask the Council why they are about to do something that NOBODY WANTS!

ORIGINAL INTRO (JULY 2020)

Bath Approach Golf Course has so far not reopened since the closure for COVID-19. Having written to B&NES council, they will give no reason for this, instead saying that the future of the course will be discussed at council cabinet on 22nd July 2020.

My fear is that there is a desire within the council to close the course permanently, and sadly they have refused to allay this suspicion by giving me an assurance about the immediate future of the course.

No public consultation has taken place about this and I believe it would be a great shame were this beautiful and unique facility to be lost to the city. The Approach Course is popular, accessible, inexpensive, low-maintenance, provides excellent exercise and is fun!

Please indicate your support by signing this petition ahead of the council cabinet meeting on 22nd July, and by writing to the council cabinet member for leisure: paul_crossley@bathnes.gov.uk

Or to Bath's MP Wera Hobhouse: office@werahobhouse.co.uk
