PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION TO LIMIT ATV/UHV USE IN SEDONA

Our once peaceful Sedona is suffering from a proliferation of off-highway vehicles known as ATV/UTV’s which have become prominent on the streets of our city and our neighborhoods on a daily basis.

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE

On October 26, 2021, the Sedona City Council voted to ask the Forest Service to implement a limited entry permit system for motorized trail use in the greater Sedona Area.

January 28th, 2022 is the date on which they promise to respond.

In the past, the Forest Service has not been open to the idea of limiting use, and could simply say no to the City Council.

NOISE

ATV/UTV’s vehicles are incredibly loud.  Because they tend to travel in groups, (often of three to five vehicles or more) that makes them even louder. Most of these vehicles register a decibel level between 85 and 100.  According to the CDC, Noise above 70 dB for a prolonged period of time may start to damage your hearing. On Sedona neighborhood streets, these vehicles can be heard through the walls of homes, disturbing the quiet of our community.

EMISSIONS

ATV/UTV’s are not subject to the same emissions standards as highway vehicles. They emit noxious fumes which float through our neighborhoods and streets every single day as these vehicles make their way back and forth to our trails.

DISTURBING THE PEACE OF THE FOREST

Many people come to Sedona to enjoy the beauty of nature. These vehicles are not good neighbors.  Because of the extreme sound of their engines, they dominate the environment, disturbing the natural peace of the forest.

PLEASE SIGN

If you support the city’s request for limited use of these vehicles in the greater Sedona area, please sign, and share your thoughts in the comments.

This petition will be delivered to the Forest Service along with your comments.
