At a future date Los Angeles Unified School Board will vote to move and displace Wright from its current location.  The Wright community is unified in asking the local and school district leaders to VOTE NO ON THE MOTION TO MOVE WRIGHT MIDDLE SCHOOL!

The Wright school community most impacted by Local District West’s proposal was excluded from conversations and denied the opportunity to ask questions and voice our wishes! We do not want to move!  We do not want to lose access to the facilities that support our magnet programs!  We do not want to lose our campus resources!  We do not want to lose what we have been cultivating since 2013! Today we still have not received a copy of the district’s plans or answers to our questions.

The Wright school community serves a large population of African-American and Hispanic students and families.  This displacement is happening during a pandemic when our families have been disproportionately impacted by Covid and at a time when our district has promised to move “in the right direction to provide Black students with vital investments in their success-with millions of dollars going toward academic support, social-emotional resources, and a new approach to school climate and safety” as stated in the LAUSD New Release on February 16, 2021 regarding the 47 million dollar Black Student Achievement Program (BSAP).  A YES VOTE could potentially take away millions in taxpayers’ dollars from our Black and Brown students at Wright!

Every corner and every crevice of our campus holds a special memory for so many members in our Wright school community!  Our students helped build hi-technology laboratories for robotics and science and a recording arts studio!  We renovated our library, auditorium, and social hall!  We upgraded indoor and outdoor learning spaces for our Special Day and Alternate Curriculum classes!  We installed new technology and equipment to modernize teaching and learning!  We brightened our whole campus with colorful paint, murals, college pennants, and affirmations to welcome families and partners to our performing arts productions and STEAM in Action showcases!

Again, the Wright community is unified in asking the local and school district leaders to VOTE NO ON THE MOTION TO MOVE WRIGHT MIDDLE SCHOOL!
