Stop sewage on the streets of Lambourn
Stop sewage on the streets of Lambourn
Why this petition matters
Raw sewage is once again spilling onto the streets of Lambourn. Human poo is emerging from inspection covers (manholes) because the sewers system is overwhelmed. Sign this petition to command Thames Water to take positive and remedial action right now.
For many years Lambourn has been subjected to raw sewage bursting out of inspection chambers and flowing onto the streets. Cars drive through it and carry the sewage further. Sewage has also spilled into the River Lambourn, one of the few chalk springs and a site of special scientific interest.
This is because groundwater is entering the poorly maintained sewer system and overwhelming the capacity of pipes. The broken sewers need be replaced so that only sewage flows and groundwater stays where it is supposed to be…. In the ground.
Thames Water have not done enough and 2024 is yet another year when the village is polluted. This has to stop.
The plight of the residents has received a great deal of coverage both in national and local media:
