Every year over 3 million people in the UK get the flu jab (74.3% with constant uptake). However, every year 55,920 cases of breast cancer are discovered on average with just under 12,000 deaths a year. 1 in 7 women are likely to get breast cancer in their life, this could or has been your mom, aunt, cousin or nan etc and these screenings can help spot the early signs and provide women with the help that is needed. Screening being encouraged every 3 years is NOT good enough and is NOT solving the issue.

Yearly tests would provide what the NHS needs, breast cancer to be spotted early on in order to reduce the risks and deaths. Not to mention the trauma and stress breast cancer puts on a family. 23% of all breast cancer cases in the UK would have been preventable if spotted sooner. This percentage cannot keep on rising as it pushes more economic and social stress and pressure on to the NHS.

Cancer is not a life choice but destroys many lives and needs a solution, mandatory yearly testing will provide women with help and peace of mind as breast cancer rates grow yearly. It cannot go on like this.
