We have had the privilege to witness firsthand the joy and excitement that reading can bring to children. Reading is not just fundamental; it's transformative, opening doors of opportunity and imagination. Unfortunately, many students are unable to access books due to limited funds. 

Research has shown that books are a key factor required to improve literacy rates in children, especially from low-income backgrounds. Children in these homes usually have limited access to books in school and almost no access to books in the home. 

It is time for us as a society to take action. We should start by eliminating taxes on books for all students. This small step can make a huge difference in their lives by making literature more affordable and accessible.

We urge lawmakers at every level of government - local, state, and national - to consider this proposal seriously. By eliminating sales tax on books for students, we are investing in their future while promoting literacy and equal opportunities.
