Why this petition matters

Started by Radha Ramana Das

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada sacrificed so much to uplift the world with Krishna Consciousness. He is recognised as a shakti-avesha avatar chosen and empowered by Lord Caitanya as his sena pati bhakta to spread the sankirtana movement all over the world.

Kaunteya Prabhu has been forced to resign from all ISKCON positions due in part to his book "Tough Questions, Difficult Answers", wherein he tries to portray Srila Prabhupada as a mundane confused person with various statements like this:
We can't exactly determine if or how much Srila Prabhupada's views on sexuality (and homosexuality) were influenced by Victorian puritanism (possibly through his professors at Scottish Church College?), by his family's cultural heritage, by his contemporary mainstream Bengali and Indian culture, or by his reading of sastras. – [page 275/666]

We would now like to focus on an essay published in the ISKCON Communications journal of GBC Anuttama das by Garuda das entitled "When the master speaks". He begins his essay by basically accusing Srila Prabhupada of being  "irrational, prejudicial, racist, misogynist, careless or unsupported, excessively or harshly judgmental, etc." Pg 2
He then resolves this issue by stating:
"Even if there are defects in the spiritual master’s body (including the mind), they
should not be criticized. This doesn’t mean that they should not be recognized as defects" pg 29

Srila Prabhupada is a pure a devotee and therefore does not feel any prejudice or malice toward any soul based in what body they currently occupy. Whatever statements he made about the nature of various bodies is based on sastra not based on a 'defect in his mind'.

We demand that GBC Anuttama das be removed from his position for endorsing and publishing blasphemy against Srila Prabhupada.

This demand is also echoed by the Indian Continental Committee of this ISKCON:

"4. The GBC must take action regarding their own members who endorsed this
offensive book of Kaunteya Das, including Anuttama Das, the GBC Minister for
Communications,  and Hridayananda Goswami, GBC Emeritus, and Parabhakti Das,
who wrote forwards to the book."

SB 11.17.27: One should know the ācārya as Myself and never disrespect him in any way. One should not envy him, thinking him an ordinary man, for he is the representative of all the demigods.
